In addition to our SOLA trauma-informed series, we will also be offering Communities of Practice (CoPs), microlearning, seminars, and workshops throughout 2025. SOLA has been designed for human services professionals working across myriad specialities including but not limited to child, adult, and elder protection, humanitarian crises, and global development. SOLA Continuous Learning & Engagement

👨🏾‍🤝‍👨🏽 SOLA Communities of Practice (CoPs) encourage connection, knowledge sharing and building, and critical thinking. CoPs aims to engage participants in targeted topics to improve practice in the areas of Safeguarding, Workplace Culture, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging (DEI&B).

🙇🏽‍♀️ SOLA Microlearnings are like microbursts of learning to foster continuous professional development in key areas. Microlearning lessons may be delivered online or via virtual live discussions. Each learning module will be between 20 to 60 minutes, depending upon the topic and format.

🎤 SOLA Seminars is a platform where invited panelists from around the globe share key insights, reflections, and recognized practices in different sectors.

👩🏾‍🏫 SOLA Workshops are interactive spaces - virtual or in-person - where participants come together to achieve a specific goal. Workshops are structured to allow for participants to work collaboratively and gain practical skills and insights on a particular topic or complex problem. There are four types of participatory activities that workshops will include: (1) Reflecting on Experience; (2) Assimilating and Conceptualizing; (3) Experimenting and Practicing; and (4) Planning for Application.

Scholarships & Financial Support Programs

We want to make SOLA accessible to everyone. If you work for a Community-based Organization (CBO) or a small or under-funded non-profit organization, please contact us to inquire about our scholarship program or financial support.

about the SOLA course curricula

Learning Platform(s)

SOLA uses an LMS or Learning Management System to deliver e-learning materials that are educational and interactive. Once enrolled, you will receive login credentials. By signing into your account, you will be able to access e-learning modules, download course materials, and track your progress. E-learning uses a combination of content and interactive activities to keep you engaged and test your knowledge throughout the respective curriculum.

Every course program includes mandatory live lectures* and activities following completion of each module. This model offers an opportunity for learners to interact with the course facilitator(s) and other learners from their region and across the globe. During live sessions, learners will be invited to share questions, ideas, and clarify concepts to expand their understanding and learn how to apply the course concepts and materials to their work. All live sessions will be held via Zoom. (See Privacy and Data)

*Live discussion times vary based on curriculum, content, and certification level and will be scheduled for intervals of 60, 90, 0r 120 minutes.

Attendance

Enrolled learners are required to complete all modules on the LMS (e-learning platform). Each curriculum will designate the requirement for live attendance. All requirements must be met to receive a certificate at the end of the course.

Accommodations

Inclusion and belonging is important to us. All of our online courses are screen-reader friendly. All live discussions will include English subtitles unless another language is otherwise denoted.

If you require an accommodation to facilitate your participation in one of our courses, please let us know. We will work with you to assess how to make the course accessible to you.

Certification

Certificates of completion will be issued by Safe Organizations, LLC to all learners who have successfully completed the course. To receive a certificate, all enrolled learners must complete the e-learning modules, attend live sessions, and complete required coursework.

Code of Ethics

All enrolled learners are required to read and acknowledge the Code of Ethics prior to the start of the course.

Our Approach to Learning

Hybrid e-Learning and Live Discussions

We believe that learning and skill-building is a marathon, not a sprint. This is the reason that we've adopted a hybrid learning model and set a pace that is reasonable for learners to internalize course content.

Research shows that adult learning is optimal when it is experiential. Experiential learning means that both our e-learning modules and live discussions* will introduce experiences for learners to actively engage with the course material and positively influence the learning process.

In contrast with a traditional academic approach that uses rote memorization or "training" to internalize or share information, experiential models of learning focus on real or simulated situations applicable to the learners' work.

Course Facilitators

Course facilitators will engage with learners to:

  1. Promote critical thinking
  2. Coach learners through questions and reflections
  3. Support learners in the application of course concepts to their work
  4. Prompt engagement and participation to create a rich, inclusive, and safe learning environment

Learning Styles

Everyone learns differently. We endeavor to create a dynamic experience so that all types of learners feel engaged and fulfilled. For this reason, our live discussions will offer myriad ways that learners can participant and contribute. If you have a preferred method for participating in live discussions, please let us know!

*Live discussions will be lead by a facilitator to facilitate or enable learning and critical thinking.

Privacy and Data

At Safe Organizations, we value privacy and believe every person has the right to determine how their sensitive data and personally identifiable information (PII) is managed. For this reason, we will never share, sell, or distribute any information you share with us unless required by law.

Safe Organizations uses Zoom for all live discussions. We will not enable the AI Companion service for any scheduled live sessions nor share any transcripts. Zoom does not use any audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments or other communications-like content (such as poll results, whiteboard and reactions) to train Zoom's or third-party Al models.

All live sessions will be recorded. Learners are encouraged to use video but are not required to do so. To further protect privacy, learners who wish to login into the live discussion using only one name (e.g., given/first name, surname, nickname, initials, etc.) may do so.
