As we enter our second year of offering course certifications, Safe Organizations Learning Academy (SOLA) is proud to present an enhanced Trauma-Informed Investigations certification. In response to valuable feedback from our pilot cohort, we have refined and streamlined the course to improve its engagement and overall effectiveness.
This course will run from 10 March 2025 - 2 May 2025.
Overview
The course curriculum focuses on trauma-informed practice for internal workplace investigations, including allegations involving child abuse, elder abuse, sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH), exploitation (e.g., labor), discrimination, and myriad other abuses of power.
The course will focus on (8) core concepts applying the lens of the Six Principles of Trauma-Informed Practice and investigation ethics, including the tenets of impartiality and fairness:
❶ Ethical Responsibilities in Investigations
❷ Recognizing Bias
❸ Planning & Preparing: Investigation Plans, Communication, and Safety Plans
❹ Collecting Evidence & Identifying Witnesses
❺ Interviewing
❻ Weighing Evidence & Assessing Credibility
❼ Standard of Proof
❽ Report Writing
Who Should Attend?
The course has been redesigned to be an inclusive model of learning. This means that we welcome anyone, even if you have no previous investigation experience. We also encourage trained investigators to participate in the course to refresh basics, build upon past learning, and integrate the trauma-informed principles into their existing practice.
