Now in its second year of delivering transformative course certifications, Safe Organizations Learning Academy (SOLA) is excited to introduce its Introduction to Trauma-Informed Practice certificate! This dynamic course is designed to equip professionals with the essential skills and knowledge to implement compassionate, trauma-sensitive approaches in all aspects of humanitarian, development, and person-centered work.
Overview
The course curriculum centers on the Six Principles of Trauma-Informed Practice, emphasizing the importance of Do No Harm and cultural humility when working with children, adults, and vulnerable populations. Participants will explore four key concepts that reinforce these principles:
❶ Trauma-Informed Approaches: Individuals and organizations are essential in cultivating a trauma-informed culture that strengthens safeguarding measures and improves workplace practices.
❷ The Impact of Trauma: Trauma shapes the experiences of individuals and communities, influencing how we engage, share power, and foster effective collaboration.
❸ Interconnected Principles: The Six Principles of Trauma-Informed Practice are deeply interconnected and essential for effectively supporting children, adults, and vulnerable populations in any context.
❹ Empathy-Based Stress: Professionals working with persons experiencing vulnerabilities, including those in child and elder protection, crisis, disaster-affected, or fragile settings, must recognize and address empathy-based stress—such as secondary and vicarious trauma—to protect their well-being and maintain effective practice.
